Chicopee Water Department Water Main Installations
The following projects are all of the "in-house" nature, meaning they were designed and installed solely by Chicopee Water personnel. None of the large scale water main installations that are part of the Sewer Separation Projects are included.
Trilby St Project - COMPLETED
The CWD laid 400 feet of 6-inch ductile iron pipe and a fire hydrant on Trilby St from Arcade St to Christopher St Spring 2015. This section of Trilby St was previously fed by a only 2-inch copper line.
Hooper Rd Project - COMPLETED
In the spring of 2015, the CWD laid approximately 400 feet of 2-inch copper to feed 2 houses on Hooper Rd. Before the new installation, the houses had been fed by a 1-inch line that was tapped on Coolidge Rd.

Franklin St Project - COMPLETED
Summer 2020, the CWD has installed approximately 140 feet of 8 inch ductile iron pipe and replacing one hydrant on Franklin St from the intersection of Springfield St to in front of house number 14. The street was formerly dead-ended half way up the street. This system upgrade has improved the flow capacity for all fire protection needs and residences on the street as well as improved redundancy in the system.
Guerin St Project - COMPLETED
Fall 2019, the CWD has installed approximately 250 feet of 8 inch ductile iron pipe and replacing one hydrant on Guerin St from the intersection of Memorial Drive to between houses number 17 and 33. The street was formerly dead-ended half way up the street and the rest of the homes fed off of 1" services. This system upgrade has improved the flow capacity for all fire protection needs and residences on the street as well as improved redundancy in the system.
Brightwood St Project - COMPLETED
Fall 2019, the CWD installed over 300 feet of 6 inch ductile iron pipe and one hydrant on Brightwood St from the intersection of Laurel Avenue to the dead end. The street was formerly fed off of a 4-inch cast iron main. This system upgrade has improved the flow capacity for all fire protection needs and residences on the street.
Wiley St Project - COMPLETED
Summer 2015, the CWD installed 500 feet of 6-inch ductile iron pipe and 2 fire hydrants on Wiley St. The street was formerly fed off just a 2-inch line. This system upgrade improved the flow capacity for all houses on the street, as well as added much needed fire protection.Trilby St Project - COMPLETED
