1. Do I need a permit?: A Street Occupancy Permit is required to perform construction work within or to occupy the City of Chicopee's Right-of-Way. Examples, Driveway installation/widening, sewer installation/replacement, placing a dumpster in the road, installing a permanent fixture, road closures, etc

2. Is there a Permit Fee?: No. There is no fee to apply and receive a Street Occupancy Permit.

3. What is the Public Right-of-Way?: The Public Right-of-Way includes the street, tree belt, and sidewalks. The Right-of-Way allows access to private property, and serves as a corridor for public utilities. Property owners are responsible for maintaining the sidewalks and the roadway shoulder (tree/green belt). The Right-of-Way varies from street to street.
