Department of Public Works

The Chicopee Department of Public Works preserves, maintains, and improves the City's infrastructure, including streets, sidewalks, trees, parks, cemeteries, signs, traffic signals, sewers, and storm drains. The Department of Public Works responsibilities are carried out through the following divisions:

Administrative: consisting of all managerial, business, and clerical functions of the DPW.
Engineering: consisting of all engineering services required by the City.
Public Services: consisting of all highway, forestry, sanitation, and recycling services provided to Chicopee residents.
Parks and Cemetery: consisting of all parks and cemetery maintenance, including athletic field upkeep.
Public Utilities: consisting of all water pollution control, stormwater, and flood control activity.
Central Maintenance: consisting of all the maintenance and repair of the city's fleet of heavy equipment, trucks, cars, and small equipment/tools.

 

Rubbish Reminder:   Please follow city ordinances and use 32-gallon size barrels maximum for trash and yard waste.

Recycling Reminder:  Use Chicopee blue bins (or similar size/color bin) for recycling all paper and cardboard separate from all cans and bottles.
