TRASH AND YARD WASTE WILL BE PICKED AS SCHEDULED ON FRIDAY, JULY 3RD.  HOWEVER, THE OFFICE WILL BE CLOSED.  THE LANDFILL WILL ALSO BE OPEN 7-4 AS USUAL. HOWEVER, THE LANDFILL WILL BE CLOSED FOR THE JULY 4TH HOLIDAY. 

The Chicopee Department of Public Works preserves, maintains, and improves the City's infrastructure, including streets, sidewalks, trees, parks, cemeteries, signs, traffic signals, sewers, and storm drains. The Department of Public Works responsibilities are carried out through the following divisions:


Administrative: consisting of all managerial, business, and clerical functions of the DPW.
Engineering: consisting of all engineering services required by the City.
Public Services: consisting of all highway, forestry, sanitation, recycling and landfill drop-off and senior bulk pickup services provided to Chicopee residents.
Parks and Cemetery: consisting of all parks and cemetery maintenance, including athletic field upkeep.
Public Utilities: consisting of all water pollution control, stormwater, and flood control activity.
Central Maintenance: consisting of all the maintenance and repair of the city's fleet of heavy equipment, trucks, cars, and small equipment/tools.



Rubbish Reminder: Please follow city ordinances and use 32-gallon size barrels maximum for trash and yard waste. Please keep covers OFF yard waste barrels to help us recognize yard waste from trash barrels.

Recycling Reminder: Residents must use recycling carts for all cans, bottles, paper, and cardboard. Not sure what's recyclable? Call our office at 594-3557.

PLEASE KEEP TRASH BARRELS AND RECYCLING CARTS ON FLAT GROUND AND NOT ON SNOWBANKS, BEHIND FENCES, GUARDRAILS, OR PARKED VEHICLES. FOR SAFETY REASONS, CREWS MAY HAVE TO LEAVE THEM UNTIL RESIDENTS REPOSITION CONTAINERS.

BEGINNING DECEMBER 1ST, 2014 CHICOPEE WILL BE RECYCLING RIGID PLASTICS!

CHICOPEE RESIDENTS WHO RECEIVE REGULAR, EVERY OTHER WEEK, CURBSIDE RECYCLING SERVICE FROM DPW RECYCLING CREWS CAN NOW PLACE CERTAIN RIGID PLASTICS IN THEIR GREEN WHEELED CARTS AS LONG AS IT FITS. SEE THE RIGID PLASTICS ACCEPTABLE LIST IN DOCUMENTS & FORMS ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THIS PAGE.
